The Short Answer

A ball spins around a numbered wheel and lands in one pocket. You bet on where it will land: one number, a group of numbers, a colour or odd or even. The fewer numbers your bet covers, the more it pays.

Always choose European roulette with a single zero when you can. Its house edge is about 2.7%. American roulette adds a double zero and raises the house edge to about 5.26%.

Bets on single numbers and small groups are called inside bets. Bets on colours, dozens and halves are outside bets. Outside bets win more often but pay less.

How Live Roulette Works

In live roulette a real dealer spins a real wheel on camera. You place chips on the screen while the timer runs. The dealer calls no more bets, the ball drops, and the result shows on screen within seconds.

Many live tables add extras such as random number multipliers or faster rounds. These change the payouts, so read the rules panel before your first spin.

Roulette Myths to Ignore

"Red is due." Each spin is separate. Five reds in a row do not make black more likely.
"Doubling up always wins." Doubling after every loss can empty your balance fast and hits table limits.
"Hot numbers." Number history on screen is just history. It does not predict the next spin.

Racetrack and Call Bets

Many live roulette tables add a racetrack, an oval layout that follows the order of numbers on the wheel. It lets you bet on whole sections of the wheel in one tap.

Neighbours: a number plus the numbers next to it on the wheel.
Tiers: the section of the wheel opposite zero.
Orphans: the numbers left over between the main sections.

These bets do not change the house edge. They only make it easier to cover a part of the wheel.

Simple Money Rules for Roulette

Set your session budget first, and keep it apart from your daily money.
Choose a chip size that gives you at least 30 to 50 spins.
Mix a few outside bets with the occasional number bet if you like more excitement.
Stop when the budget is used. Do not top up in the same session.

How a Live Spin Is Settled

The dealer launches the ball and calls the end of betting. When the ball settles, the camera shows the pocket clearly and the result appears on screen.
